Health & Wellness

City leaders in both the public and private sectors are working diligently to make Kingsport and Sullivan County one of the healthiest regions in the state.

Healthy Kingsport has helped transform the city with successful programs like Live Sugarfree, and Eat Good, Feel Good. They also sponsor the annual Walk Across Tennessee challenge, a 12-week program that challenges teams of five to walk the equivalent of 585 miles, the distance across the state of Tennessee.

Perhaps most telling regarding Kingsport’s commitment to health and wellness is the city’s recognition last November as the First Million Mile City in the country. This was a result of Kingsport challenging its citizens to log their steps and miles logged from November of 2016 to November of 2017. Over a year citizens logged 16 million miles.

With facilities like the Kingsport Aquatic Center and outdoor havens like Bays Mountain and the Greenbelt, those living, working and playing in Kingsport have ample opportunity to get moving and get healthy!
