With prominent mountains and diverse waterways surrounding us, our bright city [standing at an elevation of 1,212 feet] is the crown of an area locally known as the "Mountain Empire." Kingsport is located in the northeast corner of Tennessee, just a few miles from neighboring Virginia and only 45 minutes from the North Carolina border. We are a proud part of the Tri-Cities [which includes Johnson City, TN and Bristol, TN/VA], and as such, was designated an "All-America City" in 1999.
